LinuxMCE is integrated into the KDE desktop and runs on Kubuntu Gutsy 7.10. Major changes:

* Added support for amd64

* Added support for mixed amd64/i386 md’s

* Added support for 1080p resolution. It work great with the masking UI, but it’s slow with alpha blended UI.

* Upgraded xine to latest version

* Latest mythtv packages and fixes for lmce mythtv stuff

* Integrated VDR to LMCE and added support for few dvb-s cards

* Telecom refactoring, most of the issues fixed (you can now easily create a conference, leave a conference, merge two conferences, use an assisted transfer, etc). Upgraded to asterisk 1.4.10

* Added latest nVidia drivers (169.07 Dec 20th)

How to install :

1. If you have a Kubuntu 0710 installed and you want to keep your applications settings, use CD's installation. Same steps as for 0740 (go [[Installation_Guide|here]]).

2. If you want to do a quick install, use the DVD's. It will install both Kubuntul 0710 and LinuxMCE 0710. More [[DVD_Installation|here]].

3. If you have LMCE 0704, you might want to try one of the following upgrade methods ( more [[Upgrade_to_0710|here]] ):

- Installation using the DVD, with keep settings option (also works if you want to switch to amd64 version).

- Download the upgrade helper application from [ftp://upgrade.linuxmce.com/Upgrade/gutsy-upgrade-scripts_0.1.0-1_i386.deb gutsy-upgrade-scripts_0.1.0-1_i386.deb] and choose to install from web or from DVD, if you have the double layer dvd.

You can back-up your system and later restore it to that earlier configuration. The process works by saving a file and then later restore it. That file contains icons for users, rooms, scenarios and floor plans, devices list and settings for each; which are restored using a database dump.

Using web-admin site go to the Upper menu > Configuration > Backups

To create a restore point you have to press 'Backup' and then save the file somewhere safe. Remember: download the backup and save it to another pc. Don't let it on your Linux MCE machine because you'll lose it.

Later after reinstalling the system or in case of failure you can restore the system to that previous state.


Use 'Browse' button to locate the backup file and then press 'Restore'.


At this time there is a note what tells me that I have to reboot the system i order to install my configuration.
'Backup file uploaded, please reboot the machine and be patient, since it will take longer than a normal reboot.'


Reboot the machine and wait for the whole process to finish. After the interface loads you should see your icons and floor plans.


I used the restore successfully from a '''Pluto 2.0.0.44''' to a '''LINUX MCE 1.1'''.
What it didn't restore was the bookmarks created for media and the play lists.


The restore from '''LINUX MCE 1.0''' to '''LINUX MCE 1.1''' was not complete. I have all the devices working but it didn't restore my icons for users, rooms and floor plans; and neither the bookmarks and play lists.

If you use 192.168.80.1 for Pluto 2.0.0.44 or Linux MCE 1.0 internal network address and you later installed Linux MCE 1.1 with 192.168.80.1 you don't need to do anything else.
 If you use on internal network an address not like '''192.168.80.1''', (i.e. 192.168.86.1) you need to go to Upper menu > Advanced > Network > Settings and hit 'update' button. I installed Pluto 2.0.0.44 and Linux MCE 1.0 with 192.168.80.1 but I used 192.168.86.1 instead of 192.168.80.1 when I installed the Linux MCE 1.1 and I got TFTP timeout when booting the media directors.
