This page outlines some information about the Beta, as well as outline any changes and bugfixes we are applying, just like we did with the alpha2 page.

The installation instructions found on the alpha2 page still apply:

Internet Installation
# Install Kubuntu Intrepid desktop and update it. (download Kubuntu 8.10 desktop release from one of these: Northeastern University Mirror, USA, Mannheim University Mirror, Germany) Currently, only the 32bit version of LinuxMCE is available. Only download the i386 version of 8.10 Kubuntu, even if your system can support 64bit versions.
# Run aptitude update and aptitude dist-upgrade to get the latest Kubuntu updates.
# Grab the latest installer script from here, unpack them and change into the freshly created new-installer directory.
# Run the following scripts (as root, in order): pre-install-from-repo.sh, mce-install.sh, post-install.sh.
# Reboot, wait for the activity to stop (see progress on console 8).

EDIT: MAKE SURE YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION IS ON ETH0! (For linux Newbies ETH0 is probably the network card on your motherboard...or plug all NICs into a switch that has Internet access)

In other words, after installing Kubuntu:
sudo su - #This might ask for the password you specified earlier during the install of kubuntu.
aptitude update
aptitude dist-upgrade
wget -c http://deb.linuxmce.org/ubuntu/new-installer-alpha-latest.tar.gz
tar xvf new-installer-alpha-latest.tar.gz
cd new-installer
./pre-install-from-repo.sh
./mce-install.sh
./post-install.sh
reboot

DVD Installation
However, if you want to install the DVD, grab it via the torrent here.

Upon DVD boot, select LinuxMCE install. This will install a regular Kubuntu 810 system, with an additional button on the desktop to install LinuxMCE upon restart. Let Kubuntu's install run through, and after restart, login, and double click on the LinuxMCE icon. This will run the fullinstall.sh in /root/new-installer

The DVD installer per default does not create the initial MD image, as that creation takes a very long time, and most people probably prefer to give 810 a test, without the MDs. If you want to setup MDs, you have to manually run
/usr/pluto/bin/Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh

If you have problems running Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh, check this article.

Upcoming beta2 changes...
The upcoming beta2 will have a complete set of new packages. This is due to changes in the mysql handling to finally fix unicode issues.

After beta2...
* Build_Replacement_Package - freepbx (ubuntu/asterisk/freepbx) - Ticket #345 - Fixes the issue of installing new modules in FreePBX.

HDMI Audio
If you installed 0810 Alpha 2.26 or earlier you will need to do apt-get dist-upgrade on your Core & MD's to get the updated AVwizard that enables HDMI audio to be easily configured... this will get you the new AVwizard and any other fixes changes since you last upgraded. For the time being you will need to upgrade nVidia (180.60 or greater) & alsa (1.0.20 or later) drivers by hand.

Updated AVwizard notes;

The new AVwizard now allows you to select primary & secondary HDMI/VGA connectors using the keyboard. Press '1' for HDMI 1 and 'Q' for HDMI 2 and press '2' for VGA 1 and 'S' for VGA 2. Once in the Graphical AVwizard UI you will notice that these new connectors are now available for selection. you will also notice that the AVwizard now has a new screen layout for selecting the Audio output and also includes 'HDMI' as one of the output connector options. Select 'HDMI' from this screen if you want Stereo output then in the following screen respond 'No' to Dolby Digital and DTS. If you want surround audio to be routed out of the HDMI connector (mainly used with surround amplifiers with HDMI inputs) then select 'HDMI' and then answers 'yes' to the Dolby Digital & DTS wizard screens.

nVidia Restricted Driver
<strike>Install the nVidia restricted driver (177) from KDE using the Hardware Manager before installing LinuxMCE 0810 Alpha for the best results</strike> The installer will now automatically choose and install the correct restricted driver during setup. It will be installed after selecting "OpenGL" on your Media Director in web admin page.

MythTV
<strike>Remove reference to hardy in /etc/apt/sources.list

from terminal

sudo apt-get install pluto-mythtv-player

Install updated version of pluto-mythtv-plugin</strike>

Setup Diskless MD
<strike>Follow the steps from alpha1.</strike>

Upgrading kernel
<strike>There are issues with the fglrx driver that are documented in Ubuntu's bug tracking system. If you're experiencing those issues, upgrade the kernel to 2.6.27-13 or better. Upgrading the Kernel has been updated with instructions on doing this.</strike> The latest official kernel is -14

Updates
Check if there is no junk like references to hardy in /etc/apt/sources.list then:
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
Or use a package manager on the KDE desktop for more convenience.
To avoid a known problem when upgrading pluto-storage-devices, forcefully remove it before upgrading and let apt fix it:
dpkg -r --force-all pluto-storage-devices
apt-get update
apt-get install -f
Also please note that installing the upgrade of pluto-system-database will OVERWRITE your existing pluto_main database. It is therefore advisable to make a backup first!
Again it is wise to backup your database as there is a new pluto-system-database package, but this one will not overwrite your pluto_main database if it is already installed, it should do an sqlCVS update instead.
Also remove the pluto-storage-devices, hopefully for the last time.
See the previous upgrade above for details on how to do these things.
The web admin is being moved from pluto-admin to lmce-admin with this build. A redirect has been placed in pluto-admin to redirect to the new web admin URL to help smooth the transition. While every attempt has been made to make this a smooth transition, please be sure to file a trac ticket if you find bugs related to this move so I can get them taken care of - jondecker76

The Asterisk IVR is broken in this release. For those that need to get it working/wish to try out new changes, do the following:
sudo apt-get install libsox-fmt-all
cd /usr/pluto/bin
sudo rm generate_users_voicemenu.pl
sudo wget http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/browser/branches/LinuxMCE-0810/src/Asterisk/generate_users_voicemenu.pl?format=raw
sudo chmod 755 generate_users_voicemenu.pl
sudo ./generate_users_voicemenu.pl
Be sure to have the default voice set up in the Text_To_Speech device's device data (its default is the ugly one we're already used to)! I also highly recommend following the instructions located at http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Text_To_Speech on how to install some better voices, and set the default voice to voice_nitech_us_slt_arctic_hts after you install the better voices (this is the best free voice available ATM). This should all work on next weeks build for those that can wait.. I'm still working on getting the better voices included by default, but need to check on licensing issues first.
Note: This build will attempt to use Launch Manager to co-ordinate startup and shutdown of devices. While it is not 100% finished, it is working and stable. Please test it out and file any problems against trac ticket #48. Also, please note the following:
I'm not sure on this, but you may have to manually install LM via apt-get
After you upgrade, reboot your core
CLI output of LM can be viewed on tty8 on the core, and tty1 on MD's (alt+ctrl+F8 and alt+ctrl+F1 respectively). You will have to manually switch back to the orbiter on tty7 when finished
CLI output is not yet completely finished, so the top fields will be blank (this is normal for now)
CLI output of the log messages is working however, so please take a peek at them on tty8/tty1 shortly after you hear the 2nd set of beeps on boot up (when the "x" cursor appears on the screen).
You can further test out LM by switching to tty8/tty1 right after doing a router reload and watching the output and comparing it to what you would expect it to be.
LM dos not yet track regen process and report the % done. This should be working in next week's build, however.
If there are problems and/or you wish to restore previous functionality, the original /usr/pluto/bin/startCore.sh file can be restored from the backup /usr/pluto/bin/startCore.sh._backup, and the LM package removed
LM is not yet properly daemonized. I'm saving this step for last after the socket layer is implemented and we get a client coded.
Note: All orbiters will likely do a FULL REGEN after this update, and it may appear that your system is hanging because of this. Please give it some time to finish the regen (could take up to an hour on large installs)
With this release, MythTV now takes advantage of storage groups. Do some recordings, and try recording to a few different storage groups.
Please test this out and report any problems such as duplicate attributes appearing in pluto_media, icon image not showing up, recordings failing to record, etc. Also, if you do have problems, try a reboot and see if it fixes the problem, then please let me know if the reboot fixed your problem. - jondecker76

POST-BUILD UPDATE: A couple of small bugs have been found that will be fixed in next week's build. 1) Some storage groups are missing the leading "/" in the path, causing problems images in mythweb, downloads in the mythweb, etc. 2) Unmounted storage devices were being skipped. This means that you may not have a storage group for some of your devices at some times. I am changing this so that the storage groups are created, and if for some reason it is not available when a recording is set to use the storage group, then the recording will go to the (always present) Default storage group.
For those wanting to fix #1 right now, just edit /usr/pluto/bin/StorageDevices_PlutoDirStructure.sh and add a preceeding slash before the path beginning with 'home/....' on lines 214 and 226. After this modification, MythTV works great in all of the storage groups! (You should do a reboot after making the change)
20090501 (alpha 2.13)
There are a few more MythTV storage group changes in this build. Please understand that the storage group name changes may throw mythweb out of whack on some old recordings, but this should be minimal. The old "user_*/<storage_device>" naming scheme is replaced with a "<username>:<storage_device>" naming convention. This will appeal to many more users than the user_* convention. Also, there is now support for custom storage groups. You can make your own storage groups now on top of the auto-generated LMCE ones by prepending with "custom:" (for example, you may make a new storage group named "custom:MyDrive", and it will not be removed or overwritten by the scripts that generate the storage groups). One last change is in the "Default" storage group - it no longer points to the drive with most space. This was changed because eventually it would throw mythweb for a loop once the paths changed. I will look into a better way to defaultly record to the drive with most space, most likely using recording profiles.

Overview
Nokia N800 works pretty well as a LinuxMCE Orbiter. Its WiFi is much more stable than the Nokia 770. As of July 2008, the Nokia N800 was selling used on eBay in the US for around $200 USD and listed for $400 USD new.

Installation under OS2008 and OS2007
There are three main steps required to set up the Nokia N800 as an orbiter:
#Connect to the (correct) wifi network.
#Install the orbiter software on the N800.
#Set up an orbiter for the N800 on LinuxMCE.
#Connect to LinuxMCE with the N800.

Connect to the (Correct) Wifi Network
In order to download and install the orbiter software, you need to connect to the internet and browse to this wiki page that you are reading. Obviously, for that step you need to connect the N800 to a wifi network that provides internet access.

There is a little wireless status icon on the N800's desktop. Tapping that icon will allow you to configure the wireless connection.

Once you have installed the orbiter software on the N800, you need to connect to the wifi network that provides access to the media center. Remember that if this network connects to the EXTERNAL network port, you will need to configure the firewall on that port to allow the N800 to connect.

Install the Orbiter Software on the N770/N800/N810
This step is really easy thanks to the complete installers available here;

*This site contains the latest versions. Convergent Home Technologies - Nokia Tablet Repository (Bora/Chinook/Diablo ready)
*Here is the older, original installer.

Just browse to the url's above from your Nokia Tablet and click the link for the OS you are currently running... and then follow the on-screen instructions

Running those installers will install all the needed dependencies on the N770/N800/N810.

Set Up the N800 Orbiter in LinuxMCE
LinuxMCE's orbiter setup for the N800 has to be configured manually. This is done from the admin page as follows:

1. On the Admin Page go to Wizard=>Devices=>Orbiters.

2. At the bottom of the page there is a listbox to the left of a button called Add Orbiter. Select Orbiter from the list and click Add Orbiter. This will add the new orbiter to the current page and refresh.

3. Find the orbiter you just created. It's description should be "Orbiter". Change the fields as follows:
*Description: Nokia N800
*Room: Select the room you will use the orbiter in.
*Size: Nokia770
*This device uses a Wi-Fi connection: check

4. Click Update. This will save the settings you just changed and refresh the page.

5. Find the Nokia N800 orbiter on the page again. Check the box beside Reset Router when done regenerating then click Full Regen. This will generate the screens for the N800 orbiter and reload the router.

6. Find the Nokia N800 orbiter on the page again. Note the number to the right of the Description field. This number is the orbiter ID. You will need it in the next section.

Now all that's left is to connect to LinuxMCE with the N800.

Connect to LinuxMCE with the N800
Connecting to LinuxMCE with the N800 orbiter software is accomplished as follows:
#Launch the orbiter software. (You may have to hunt around a bit to find where it is. A common place is off the "Start" menu under "Extras".
#You should see a screen asking for the LinuxMCE Core IP and Orbiter ID. Fill in the IP address of the core and the orbiter ID you noted when you created the orbiter in the previous section.
#Click Start Orbiter. After a few seconds you should see the first of a couple of progress bars begin to advance. (If the Start Orbiter button stays "pushed" (i.e. blue) for only a few seconds then changes back to normal, then something has gone wrong. Check your network connection and verify the IP and Orbiter ID are correct.)
Once the progress bars are complete, you should see the familiar orbiter screen on the N800.

Enjoy!

Alternative Installation Method for OS2007
This installation guide is for the N800 with OS2007.

The Orbiter package and all dependences can be found in the Maemo garage, for information on how to use it read "Using Nokia770/N800 as a Plutohome Orbiter" on the SmartBlog.

Enable R&D Mode
Get the "flasher3.0" binary from the nokia page: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/d3.php
Enter the following:
./flasher-3.0 --enable-rd-mode
Plug the N800 into USB and power on. After confirmation by the utility restart the device.
Enable "red pill" mode
Go to the program manager, go to the catalogs and add a new source. Put "matrix" in the adress field and push "cancel". Answer the question with "red pill".
Install dependencies
Define additional repositories to get development libraries (we need at least Maemo repository):
Web address http://repository.maemo.org/
Distribution bora
Components free non-free extras
and
Web address http://repository.maemo.org/extras/
Distribution bora
Components free non-free

The following packages have to be installed manually (transfer to device and install via file or program manager:
mysql-common_4.0.24-10-nokia_all.deb
libmysqlclient12_4.0.24-10sarge2_armel.deb
libsdl-gfx1.2_2.0.9-4_armel.deb

Dependency availability
You can find all the dependencies directly on the Maemo Garage page of the orbiter.

Install the orbiter
Now install the orbiter package from the maemo garage: https://garage.maemo.org/frs/?group_id=162
linuxmceorbiter-0704-03_armel.deb (or later version)
Add new screen size to database
On the Core type the following as root:
mysql
use pluto_main
insert into Size (Description,Width,Height,ScaleX,ScaleY) VALUES('Nokia770',800,480,376,300);
Install fonts
Copy the Truetype fonts from the core to the N800 ("/usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/")

Quick'n'dirty on N800:
sudo gainroot (or becomeroot)
scp -r <user>@dcerouter:/usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/ /usr/share/fonts/truetype/msttcorefonts/

This will copy files from core to N800 in xterm (maybe only if you have ssh installed) <user> is the user you created when installing Kubuntu/core.

Somebody please code format the above command, posting from my N800 while its fresh and tired of pecking keys. dragon_788

Create the orbiter in the LMCE administration interface
Add a new orbiter and select "Nokia770" as the screen size. After generation do a quick reload.
Go to orbit
much phun..
A Note On Saving Battery
Locking the screen while not using the orbiter, helps to conserve quite a bit of battery for me.

All new software developed since the Plutohome branch will be licensed under GPL, yet much of the core Plutohome software (and thus core LinuxMCE software) is licensed under a proprietary Pluto License. Until further notice it should be assumed that the following licenses apply:

----

The following was copied from from this Plutohome page:

Pluto is proud to support the open source movement and believes it is the way to deliver a superior product.
All Pluto's source code is released under either the GPL or Pluto licenses.

Software that may be useful apart from the Pluto system, such as sqlCVS, BD, RA, etc., is released under the GPL license.
Also, Pluto's underlying protocol, DCE, and our DCE Devices are GPL.

Most of the core modules that are unique to Pluto and our target market are released under the Pluto license.
The Pluto license is essentially the same as GPL when the software is
distributed without hardware (ie a pure software distribution). If a hard goods manufacturer wants to include Pluto embedded in their product,
then the Pluto license cannot be used and a
separate license must be obtained from Pluto. Pluto believes this arrangement is a mutual win-win. By sacrificing the revenue from pure software sales, offering the software
royalty free, and opening the source, Pluto hopes to build an active community of users. This benefits the community who can get Pluto for free, and it benefits the company
by making the product more sellable as an embedded solution to hard goods manufacturers and smart home dealers.

The license texts are available here:

You are free to use, copy, sell and modify the software without paying any royalties. However if you make modifications, you are required to make those available to the public.

full text

Pluto

When the software is offered without hard goods, the same rights and restrictions apply as with the GPL license. However if a hard goods manufacturer wants to embed the software, or if a dealer wants to sell a turnkey hardware+software solution, then a separate license is required.

full text

The LinuxMCE Developers have not completely explained the LinuxMCE license. It is clear that all new software developed since the Plutohome branch will definitely be licensed under GPL, yet much of the core Plutohome software (and thus core LinuxMCE software) is licensed under a proprietary Pluto License.

License

GPL

This is the most popular open source license. You are free to use, copy, sell and modify the software without paying any royalties. However if you make modifications, you are required to make those available to the public.

full text

Pluto

When the software is offered without hard goods, the same rights and restrictions apply as with the GPL license. However if a hard goods manufacturer wants to embed the software, or if a dealer wants to sell a turnkey hardware+software solution, then a separate license is required.

full text

Here's a chance to be a part of a great new open source project. There are 3 types of developers LinuxMCE needs:

# Maintainers for the existing open source projects incorporated in LinuxMCE: LinuxMCE consolidates a lot of existing open-source projects, like Ubuntu, Xine, MythTV, Pluto, Asterisk, etc. So we'd like some developers from those existing projects to join the team to be sure changes to those projects don't break LinuxMCE, and that LinuxMCE always includes the latest and greatest versions.
# Add new open source projects to LinuxMCE: LinuxMCE is largely a framework for integrating lots of open source projects and enabling them to seamlessly work together. So there's lot's of other great open source projects out there that it would be nice to integrate. Adding your existing open source project to LinuxMCE not only makes LinuxMCE better, it adds a ton of functionality to your project and likely allows it to do things not otherwise possible. This is where Open Source blows away closed source. In the closed source world, you could never see all the competing software companies work together and share their code so it all seamlessly works together like LinuxMCE does.
# Totally new code for LinuxMCE: Most of the functionality in LinuxMCE is already complete, and in general adding 'major' new features is a matter of integrating an existing open source project, rather than writing all new code from scratch. However, because LinuxMCE talks to so many devices, there are lots and lots of devices out there it would be nice to add support for. We're hoping to be able to get some companies to sponsor a lot of this work, since this would open up a new market for them.

In addition to developers we also need:

# Documentation: This is probably our weakest point right now. It's hard to get the full benefit of LinuxMCE because a lot of the features are not well documented and it's hard to grasp the full capabilities.
# QA/Testing: We have setup an automated build system that creates a new test release each night, and a bug tracking system. Since programmers never like to test and debug, yet that's what matters most when building a user base, we really need some detail oriented people to stress LinuxMCE and go through all the functions to flush out all the bugs.
# Promotion: We need to get a substantial user base so the companies that make products for the home are motivated to support LinuxMCE and to get momentum behind the development. If you're good at promotion, like making a demo video or flash animation, or posting announcements, or getting some press interest, why not lend a hand?

If you'd like to join the team, feel free to dive right in add yourself to the Contacts page. If you'd like some orientation and assistance, you'll find our contact info there, and we'd be happy to email, IM, Skype or phone you and chat with anybody interested in joining the team.

LinuxMCE is a media centered Linux distribution. It's built on the solid foundation laid down by debian and Ubuntu. But with all kinds of goodies for the home of the future, from digital video recorder capabilities and home automation to functioning as a telephone switching hub for your home in lieu of a boring intercom system; all tied together by an advanced messaging infrastructure. While the next release 0804 is almost done and focuses on stability, we're already planning for the next release and you could contribute to it's direction. **Who knows if and/or when plutohome.com will disappear along with the script that is currently used.
**Since we are our own entity at this point and very active in changing the direction of LMCE, I'd also like to see us start all over with installation ID #1 starting with 0810.
**This will cleanly separate us from pluto and provide insurance that we can continue to assign new installation ID's in the future (especially important once linking installations is possible).

LinuxMCE is a media centered Linux distribution. It's built on the solid foundation laid down by debian and Ubuntu. ***Beta release deadline?
***General release deadline?
*0810 Update release schedule (jondecker76)
**Discuss update scheduling for after 0810 is released, as well as the frequency of the updates.
**Maybe a planned monthly build (similar to how we do the weekly's now) for bugfixes/feature enhancements wouldn't be a bad idea.

High Level Design Discussions
*Discuss possibility of running our own new_install script on www.linuxmce.org and assigning our own installation ID's - (jondecker76)
**Old pluto installation ID's can be re-assigned for upgrades from 0710 with a post-upgrade script.

Preface
LinuxMCE allows the use of many devices as Orbiters. One of them is the CISCO 7970. You can use it to control your home as well as to make calls.

To add a new CISCO 7970 phone as an Orbiter follow these simple instructions (from information in the LinuxMCE support forum).

Preparation
CISCO 7970 phone is plug-in-play device; LinuxMCE adds it automatically when it is plugged into the network. But first, we have to make some preparations. Run an Orbiter. Be sure that no others tasks are running.
Check the DHCP setting of your phone. It should be something like that: "get IP via DHCP and no alternative servers".
Check the range of MAC addresses:
#Go to Advanced --> Configuration --> Device Template.
#Chose manufacturer CISCO. You should see in the right list at least two models: 7970 and 7960.
#Press the button 'Show model'.
#On the opened window check 'Range MAC addresses'. The range contains two big decimal digits. To get correct range for your phone first see its MAC address. A MAC address is six groups of two hexadecimal digits, separated by hyphens (-) or colons (:). The first three groups identify a maker. You leave them and fill the rest by 0 and F. For example, if MAC is 00:16:78:CD:01:D8 its range will be 00:16:78:00:00:00 - 00:16:78:FF:FF:FF. After that you should convert those two values into LinuxMCE representation. To do that run a script /usr/pluto/bin/convert_mac and pass the hexadecimal values as parameters:
/usr/pluto/bin/convert_mac 00:16:78:00:00:00
/usr/pluto/bin/convert_mac 00:16:78:FF:FF:FF
:As result you will get two big decimal digits. Add them to the phone template and store.
If you have problems with phone installation, it may be related to firmware. The phone should have the latest firmware upgrade. (I didn't have any problem with existing firmware on my CISCO 7970, though).

Note for CISCO 7960 SIP users: if your phone fails to register with asterisk then edit /tftpboot/SIPDefault.cnf and append
nat_enable: 1

Installation
#Plug the phone power and network cable. Note if you have two network cards on your core you should plug network cable in the right switch.
#During boot of the phone after 2-3 minutes you should see on the Orbiter a message about new device with your phone MAC address was detected. You should click by caption "Cisco 7970" below that.
#After that the phone should be registered with asterisk and you can see a normal CISCO screen.
#However, it'll take another 2-3 minutes to generate a new Orbiter for CISCO7970.
#When this operation finishes you'll see a message on the Orbiter screen. Make a quick reload of router (Wizard -- Reboot -- Quick Reload Router. I also rebooted CISCO 7970 because I didn't see anything in the menu Services).
#Now go to menu Services on CISCO 7970 and chose Orbiter.

Troubleshooting
*Problem: Phone boots successfully but there is no any message on the Orbiter's screen.
*Solution: If the message doesn't appear check MAC addresses range.

Some useful tips
*To reset a Network configuration of CISCO79xx go to menu 'Network Setting' and press the following sequence of buttons:
**#**
*To check network communications between CISCO7970 and CORE run tcpdump on the CORE:
tcpdump -i eth1 [CISCO7970 IP Address]
or to see detailed packets information:
tcpdump -i -vv eth1 [CISCO7970 IP Address]
or change TimeZone change following line in /tftpboot/SEPDefault7970.cnf.xml (you can find proper TimeZone strings here ):
<timeZone>W. Europe Standard/Daylight Time</timeZone>
*To add the voicemail options to the message button, edit the sccp.conf file and add the following to the lines section of each phone:
mailbox=<extension>
vmnum=*97
Email suggestions to: stepanov.michael [at] gmail [dot] com or leave a comment.

Add Directory buttons to Cisco IP Phone
Download
Download the files here: http://www.unit-e.cc/~tschak/Directory.zip

Synopsis
This set of files adds a working Directory for your Cisco IP phone. It has been tested on my Cisco 7970 phone, but does not use any additional features, so it should work on any of the other Cisco IP phones that support XML services, such as the Cisco 7960.

It adds the following Features:

* Directory button now works!
* Works with Contacts from the Pluto phone directory
* Paginates them based on # of entries in phone book
* Shows the phone type.

Installing this Patch
* Unpack the files to the pluto-admin directory. (/var/www/pluto-admin/)
* edit the file /tftpboot/SEPDefault7970.cnf.xml (it just needs to be the default xml for your cisco phone, adjust as needed.)
** Find the <directoryURL></directoryURL> tags, and place http://192.168.80.1/pluto-admin/directory.php between them.
* Reboot the phone by pressing the settings button, and pressing the following button sequence **#**

Once the phone boots, try the directory by pressing the Directory button!

*To add the voicemail options to the message button, edit the sccp.conf file and add the following to the lines section of each phone:
mailbox=<extension>
vmnum=*97

Add Directory buttons to Cisco IP Phone
Download
Download the files here: http://www.unit-e.cc/~tschak/Directory.zip

Synopsis
This set of files adds a working Directory for your Cisco IP phone. It has been tested on my Cisco 7970 phone, but does not use any additional features, so it should work on any of the other Cisco IP phones that support XML services, such as the Cisco 7960.

It adds the following Features:

* Directory button now works!
* Works with Contacts from the Pluto phone directory
* Paginates them based on # of entries in phone book
* Shows the phone type.
