The LinuxMCE Admin web site is used to setup and configure your LinuxMCE system. It also allows you to do a lot of other tasks, such as to check your voice-mail, organize your media, etc. The web site runs on the LinuxMCE Core. You can access it from the Core web browser, or from any other computer connected to the network.

By default, the LinuxMCE Admin web site is not accessible outside your home. This makes the system secure, but it prevents you from accessing the web site via the Internet while away from home. You can [[Outside_Access|turn on Internet access]], allowing access to the admin website anywhere. For your own security, however, we recommend you first read about [[Security & Privacy Issues]].

=LinuxMCE Admin Website Sections=

==Admin page structure==
LinuxMCE is a modular platform with a wide variety of optional modules and devices. Generally, each module will have one or more web pages to configure when using that module. The LinuxMCE Admin web site has a pull-down menu that lets you quickly access any of those pages. The menu options for each particular home will be unique, depending on the configuration.

Two menu options will always be displayed.

*The ''[[Wizard Pages|Wizard]]'' is the commonly used way to configure and setup your LinuxMCE system. When you choose Wizard, you will see a series of steps that depends on what devices you have installed in your home. The pages in the Wizard section are intended to be simple for the average user. ==Adding custom entries in LinuxMCE Admin menus==

Currently only option is to enter entries into Pluto_main database, table PageSetup. There you'll find other entries already, go to the end and add yours (but be careful not to break anything and also save your changes, cause they can probably lost in migration or updates - not sure)...

Anyway for simple test I've created two entries: "Tinia" as main menu entry (after Telecom) and then subentry for phpmyadmin that I frequently use. If I highlight only important fields, my entries look like this :

The Pioneer Pro-1140HD can be controlled by LinuxMCE through the serial port.
#From the factory the 1140HD is set to SR+ mode which ignores the rs232 port. In order to take the tv out of SR+ mode so it will respond to rs232 information you must start with the tv in standby mode. On the television remote, press the "Home Menu" key and within 3 seconds press the power on button. You will see SR+ <=> :On at the bottom of the screen. Press the left key on the direction pad of the remote to turn the SR+ <=> to :Off. If you need to change the baud rate, you can press down on the direction pad of the remote. The factory default baud rate is 9600.

This section is designed to allow users to download from Amazon website cover arts for their audio and video files, and also for attributes.

Select the "Cover Art" drop down menu item from the "Files & Media" link in the center of the admin website (http://localhost/pluto-admin/index.php). There are links for selecting the media (files/discs/attributes) you want to sync (default is "Files with no cover art"); on upper right side there are a text box with the number of records per page and the type of your media (Music or DVD).

'''NOTE:''' selecting "All files" can return a huge number of records.

Default all records are selected, and the primary keyword used for search on Amazon are the file name without extension, disc number or attribute name.

For discs, you'll have to type the keyword (name of album or whatever). You can refine your search using the filters, who are specific for each media type (for Music there are "Artist" and "Album" and for DVD there are "Actor", "Director", "Publisher" and "Title"), all of the according to Amazon API, which is used in back-end to retrieve the cover arts.

Once your selection is done, click "Scan for cover arts" who will connect to Amazon and try to retrieve cover arts based on your keywords and extra filters. The records and the jpg files will be stored in a temporary location.
You will be redirected to a page "match cover arts" where you can assign for each item you scanned the cover art who was extracted; default is set to "no matches" to avoid setting wrong cover art by mistake.

Pick correct cover art for your items then click "Match Cover Art": the cover arts will be assigned to the media (file/disc/attribute) and the jpg files will be copied in the permanent directory (default /home/mediapics), the rest of them will be deleted from temporary location, also those with "no matches" checked.

The records from temporary tables CoverArtScan and CoverArtScanEntry will be deleted too, so if you didn't have any matches for your media, you can try again using more or less filters, or changing the spelling for the keywords.

== Wiimote setup ==

I will try to explain what i have done to make the wiimote work with linuxmce.

The wiimote is a cheap gyration device which could work for linuxmce instead of the chief remote from fiire which i find too expensive!!

= Setup =

Login ([[Logging_In]]) as root to the media director which has a bluetooth stick with ssh.
Install the cwiid driver as follows
apt-get install libcwiid0
apt-get install wminput

Make sure the uinput kernel module is loaded at boot-time:

Make it executable

run the script and push the red button beside the battery and your wiimote is ready to go

enable the script so that it will start at boot time

now start the script and see if it works

= Troubleshooting =

*Q: When i reload the router then the wiimote will be slow
*A: Just push the red button besides the wiimote so it will connect again

I tried this and it works beautifully!

A couple of other notes...

Its a pain to get to the little red button by the battery. Instead, you can press and hold the '1' and '2' buttons at the same time for the same effect.
The power button will not start the system, but once the system is started (with either the Red button or the button 1+2 being held down together), holding the power button for a couple of seconds will turn the wiimote off and break the connection.
