ASUS P5K SE EPU

WARNING: while it appears to work just well (thus far) the Asus P5K SE/EPU motherboard exhibits a unique phenomina when installing due to an unknown setting in the BIOS. (I will attempt to establish what's wrong/where at a later date and update this entry.)

It is CRITICAL that before attempting to install LinuxMCE 0710 (DVD) on this motherboard, that you are certain to disable ACPI and APIC as well as all serial ports - otherwise you will find that after the installation DVD has spat and it's running exclusively from the HDD that your monitor/plasma will litterally shut itself off.

The process of elimination to determine that the problem was the BIOS and not the hardware exhausted hours of some of the brighter minds of this group (posde, TSCHAK, seth - Etc) as well as two days of my own time as I went through the process of elimination to determine where the problem lay.

I tried:

Different RAM Different Video Card Different HDD Different DVD R/W Different Monitors Different Plasma

In fact, EVERY component excluding the Motherboard

If this information helps save anyone else the hassles and dramas I went through, the trouble to create this wiki entry will have been well worth it!
