52,damned handsome, (read damned,period)and declining rapidly, mentally & physiclly(not that the start point was so high anyway).
Plasterer/joiner/jobbing builder 'till 10 yrs ago when I "retired" thro a back problem.Tight fisted, impecunious, (ie skint)and an inveterate whinge (and wind)bag ; I was brought up on a diet of Arthur C. Clarke, and the BBC's "Tomorrows World", the moon landing and the decade of promise, the '60s:A Commodore C64 emasculated me (as far as computing was concerned-too many peeks,
and as a teenager I was more interested in pokes !) then came an IBM ps2-genuine,complete with MCA and 2meg of ram....£50 later and an extra 2meg it FLEW.....for 30 seconds at a time , untill BSOD

STILL, win3.11 AND A MOUSE !!!! what a godsend for a bloke with fat fingers !
10 years on, I still get disappointed :- even the present Q6600 ISN'T Hal....
hence the name....
Maybeoneday....it will be like Hal,or even better have a "Eureka" moment and be a Sarah (untill now all my pc's have been more like the one in "Dark Star"

Having built a few (50+) windows boxes,I decided it was time to actually get one or two to actually do some usefull work, and having allways had a dream of getting all media on one pc,and having abandoned my 2 ,yes 2, All-in wonders to the spares box long ago,I lumped up for some decent kit and gave Vista a whirl,then myth,followed rapidly by numerous others:

15 months later,I still know next to nothing , and each little advance I make seems like I've climbed everest, BUT what a rush ! (did I mention I was a sad old man !)
