The setup wizard needs new screens attached to anticipate future expansion. This page contains my notes on proposed additional screens to the setup wizard:
Accounts
Increasingly, LinuxMCE will connect to more internet based web services. We need a series of screens to be able to enter account information on a per-user basis for each of these services.
This will be split into the following sections, in each section a series of buttons will be shown with a cue to select all the services they use. Selecting a button highlights the service, and subsequent screens configure the accounts for each:
Instant Messaging
- AIM
- iChat (yes, know they are the same)
- Yahoo!
- MSN
- XMPP
- Google Talk (yes, I KNOW they're the fucking same)
- ICQ
A note, some of the above may seem redundant given their underlying protocol, but if you're thinking that, you're a geek, stop it. This makes it easier for Joe User.
Common Screen
This screen allows for common fields to be entered across multiple services, such as email address and a default password. These will not be used directly, but rather as a way to pre-seed any Email and Address fields on the proceeding pages.
- Email address
- Password
Internet Video
- Google Video
- Youtube
- Hulu (???)
Internet Photos
- Flickr
- Photostream
etc.
You get the idea.
