LinuxMCE Setup

Core

CPU AMD Athlon II X2 245 2.9GHz
Mainboard M3A78-EM (link)
Video card ASUS EN9400GT (HDMI) (link)
USB-Serial Adapters PL-2303 USB to Serial Adapter

AV Equipment

Home Theater Area

  • Sony Bravia HDTV
  • Cisco Explorer 8642HD PVR (Rogers TV)
  • 7 + 1 speakers
    • Center speaker
    • R/L speakers
    • R/L surround speakers
    • R/L back speakers

Home Audio setup

18 zone house layout for central audio. All zones have 2 speakers (R/L) and all wiring is home-run to the main networking closet. The AV stack is situated next to the networking and speaker wire runs.

# of Zones Region
3 Bedrooms
4 Bathrooms
3 Kitchen/Living/Dining
1 Laundry
2 Dressing
1 Den/Office
1 Patio
1 Deck
1 Basement
1 Garage
18 Total

Main AV stack

Equipment:

  • 1x 7.1 Home Theater Receiver (TBD, likely Marantz SR-6006 (link))
  • 3x MC-66 Multi-Zone Controller (link)
  • 3x DMA-1240 High Efficiency Multi-Channel Amplifier (link)

Current Issues

Currently figuring out how best to control the AV stack with LinuxMCE.

RS-232 interface to MC-66

Will need to write a GSD interface for the MC-66 if not already supported.
