I am a Knoppmyth convert who discovered LinuxMCE just about 6 months ago. I watched the google video and made the switch with a painful CD install, or rather several, of version 7.04. I have since then tried just about every version up to today. Although the road was bumpy at times, now I would not use anything else. My setup at home is below.


Core System - Living Room

  • Case nMedia HTPC200 Black w/ 450watt nMedia ultra quiet power supply
  • Motherboard Biostar GeForce 6100-M9
  • CPU AMD Athlon64 3200+ (Single Core)
  • 1GB Kingston Dual Channel DDR (2x512)
  • Nvidia Geforce 7200 w/128MB PCI express
  • 1x Western Digital 80GB SATA3 drive (/ system and everything else under /home/public/data)
  • 1x Western Digital 500GB SATA3 drive (/home/public/data/videos)
  • 1x Hauppage PVR150 MCE UsingSchedules Direct For Program Guide Info
  • 1x Hauppage PVR150 MCE For Roku Netflix Player
  • 1x Air2PC HD OTA Card (had to configure manually in mythtv-setup) Using Schedules Direct For Program Guide Info
  • 1x Mad Dog 16x Dual Layer DVD-RW
  • 1x Insteon PLM 2412S
  • 1x Trendnet 10/100 USB Ethernet Adapter (For connection to Wildblue Internet Modem)
  • 1x USB-UIRT
  • 1x Custom made 3 head IR Blaster Dongle
  • 1x Gyration GYR3101US Remote Control
  • 1x Logitech Harmony 880 Remote Set for Media Center PC (Wife's remote)
  • 1x Philips 42" Rear Projection TV connected to RCA STAV-4090 via Component video, and Audio Center Channel outputs
  • 1x RCA STAV-4090 500watt 5.1 AV/Receiver

Insteon Setup

2 in living room, 1 in each girls' room
1 on living room ceiling light, 1 on family room ceiling light, 1 on master bathroom vanity light
1 on kitchen light, 1 on driveway spots


Network Setup

  • Wildblue Satellite Internet, connected to Core via Trendnet 10/100 USB Dongle
  • Realtek On-Board 10/100/1000 connected to
  • Trendnet Gigabit Ethernet Switch connected to
  • 4 MD's
  • Linksys WRT54G Wireless Router (For wireless connectivity)



I plan on adding a similar setup as above MD's to the bedroom, in the near future!!
