Throne And Liberty Review: Still A Long Way To Go

From LinuxMCE

One of my main concerns with Throne and Liberty was its combat. It’s still not as flashy as I’d like, and sometimes you get locked into animations that feel clunky. Compared to the version I played earlier this year, however, you can tell how much work has gone into making the combat more action-packed and giving the player more agency over their abilities. We won’t know for sure about this until players start to reach the endgame and begin taking part in some of the large-scale PvE and PvP events, particularly the Castle Sieges - an element of the game I can’t wait to try for mys

Overall, it’s difficult to give a score for Throne and Liberty based on what I’ve seen so far. I’ve been a bit too quick in the past to judge MMOs based on their leveling experience, where the real game begins when you’ve already invested dozens - potentially hundreds - of hours into the game. As it stands though, I can say that this is a game that I’m excited to play. There’s a real promise in what stands to be a modern successor to one of the all-time greats of the genre, NCSoft’s Lineag

When transferring gear, the old item's gained experience will be applied to the new item. You can transfer an item to another item of the same rarity and you will keep the level (as mentioned above); but you can also transfer a lower-quality item into a higher-quality it

"Everything about Throne & Liberty, from day one, was built with, I would say, the right word is 'massive'," Lafuente says. "Massive scale, everything about it, the world, the buildings, everything. And the tech being built is going to allow things like the castle sieges that have thousands of players participating in a castle siege. That's not an exaggeration, that's already something that has been seen in the Korean life service is thousands of players participating in this castle siege. That's probably the biggest event that we have. And then there'll be other things that have hundreds of players, going down even to guild vs guild battles, which will be more along the 50 v 50, 60. v 60 type of range. Scale is a big part of what we expect in Throne and Liberty updates & Liberty, particularly when it comes to PvP battl

This means each time you spend Growthstones and Sollant to upgrade an item, your item will get closer to the next level, but not necessarily achieve a full level . If you're lucky, there is a ten percent chance to grow a full 80 percent of the item's upgrade

I told the duo that I had requested Wand and Staff for my own playthrough at the behest of one of TheGamer's resident MMO expert, and they laughed - clearly, the team behind Throne and Liberty Raids & Liberty is aware of the importance of the mage class to MMO history, and the natural curiosity players will have for it here when magic usage is far more flexi

"I have a long history with Korean MMOs," Lee Kwai tells me. "There are certain expectations around classes based on that legacy. It's important to strike a delicate balance. But when you're fighting one v one, or one v six, or 50 versus 50, or 200 versus 200, the abilities are used in many different ways and the strategies of combat change drastically. And one thing that mage classes are known for is area attacks, so during combat like sieges or massive battles there's usually strategies that arise based on how to coordinate magic attacks, and that's where they really get a lot of that reputati

At Summer Game Fest earlier this month I played two of Amazon's MMOs, New World: Aeternum and Throne & Liberty , having previously dabbled in their other MMO Lost Ark , while the company has also announced, cancelled, and re-announced anew a Lord of the Rings MMO. This isn't all Amazon publishes ( Blue Protocol is on the way, Crucible was scrapped, it picked up Tomb Raider recently too), but it’s definitely a trend. So when I sat down with Daniel Lafuente and Merv Lee Kwai from Amazon to discuss Throne & Liberty, this trend was on my mind. Though, apparently, not on the

Players still need to grind out those items for them to appear on the auction house. Once purchased, they are not max level, which means players will still need to grind for upgrades. There’s a shadow of pay-to-win here, but it’s deeply convoluted and it won’t be common for players to be splashing cash on the best gear. You can also earn Lucent by selling your own gear. If you’re a hardcore player, you could generate enough Lucent to keep buying things from the Auction House whenever you want - no wallet requi

With this knowledge, you'll find yourself utilizing the item enchanting system often as there is little risk in putting upgrade materials into the wrong items. Feel free to enchant as you play, knowing that you can always transfer the experience that item has gained. Use the two main levels mentioned to get the most out of your lower-rarity items before transferring to a higher rar

At the end of the day, Throne and Liberty ** is a pretty new game** . It has its flaws, sure, but there's still plenty of time for it to resolve its issues with progression with more mechanically complex classes, to add new morphs that actually make a difference in gameplay, or to renew its focus on the thrilling
