There are 6 default security modes:
- armed - away
- armed - at home
- extended away
When you choose the house security mode, the sensors assigned to that security mode are enabled. Generally the security mode pertains to the entire house. Although it is possible to arm zones separately, this is an advanced topic.
Choose the active sensors for each default security mode
On this page you indicate which sensors will be active when in the indicated security mode. Note that you are not specifying the events that are to be triggered by each sensor. That is done elsewhere.
- Here you specify which events should be triggered when there is a security problem. You choose whether to sound a siren, turn on all the lights or sprinklers, turn on the TVs, or play a menacing audio file when an "armed" sensor is tripped.
- Here you specify how you want to be notified when there are any security problems. You specify who should be notified (by mobile phone, for example) when an "armed" sensor is tripped.
LinuxMCE can also be put in "Monitor Mode", aka Baby Sitter mode, a "hidden" mode that is separate from the 6 default security modes. The fact that the house is in "Monitor Mode" is not indicated on the Orbiters anywhere (so that the nanny doesn't know she's being monitored). You can turn this mode no matter whether the house is armed, disarmed, entertaining, or whatever. The security system will still react like normal.
"Monitor Mode" means that every time a sensor with monitor mode checked is tripped you will be notified on your mobile phone with a picture (whether or not an alarm is also triggered).
This mode, for example, can selectively monitor the primary door sensors, if you choose. Even though those sensors may not be not armed and might not sound the alarm when tripped, you can still be shown a picture on your mobile phone whenever the sensor is tripped. (That way you can be sure that there are no unauthorized visitors).
When using this mode, check the "Monitor Mode" checkbox for every sensor you want to monitor when you leave the house.
