(My experiences with MCE so far)

Line 1: Line 1:
New user, some old Linux experience with RedHat and Slackware ten years ago, but not much with Ubuntu yet. Interest in Linux MCE motivates me to get more accustomed with Linux now. Managed to get 7.10. up, and already recorded some TV movies with a Technisat sat card. But the frontend always looked weird (titles were too long and cut off), couldn't get cameras to work, frontend netboot didn't work at all, the Sata controller on my MB (MSI 845PE Max2) wasn't supported, and I didn't manage to bind in the gamepad I want to use for buttons on the case, either. Hoping that Kubuntu 8.10 and new MCE beta will solve those issues.

So far, Kubuntu did install on the Sata disk and runs nicely (even though I don't like this sudo crap), but MCE 810 didn't install correctly. Will try internet install now.

New user, some old Linux experience with RedHat and Slackware ten years ago, but not much with Ubuntu yet. Interest in Linux MCE motivates me to get more accustomed with Linux now. Managed to get 7.10. up, and already recorded some TV movies with a Technisat sat card. But the frontend always looked weird (titles were too long and cut off), couldn't get cameras to work, frontend netboot didn't work at all and I didn't manage to bind in the gamepad I want to use for buttons on the case, either. Hoping that Kubuntu 8.10 and new MCE beta will solve those issues.

So far, Kubuntu did install on the Sata disk and runs nicely (even though I don't like this sudo crap), but MCE 810 didn't install correctly. Will try internet install now.
