Re-installing LinuxMCE on Core

So, starting over.

2 Drives in the Core HDA HDB

Started out with a 10.04.4 LTS partition on HDA Decided to try to keep the 10.04.4 LTS partition in case I want to boot back to it (it works)

Resized ext3 file system in partition #1 of SCSI1 (0,0,0) (sda)

ARgh. So, I managed to overwrite the 10.04.4 partition. Next time will just be a complete hda overwrite.

Logged into desktop

Ran new-installer.sh

Waiting...

Sony Bravia

Tweaked to the Sony Bravia 1080p settings. Under (Main Menu, Settings, Picture & Display, Screen) you can change the Auto Wide to off, Auto Display Area OFF, Dsiplay Area Normal, and then adjust the Screen Position until it makes sense for the AV Wizard.

AV Equipment

Home Theater Area

  • Sony Bravia HDTV
  • Cisco Explorer 8642HD PVR (Rogers TV)
  • 7 + 1 speakers
    • Center speaker
    • R/L speakers
    • R/L surround speakers
    • R/L back speakers
    • Powered subwoofer

Home Audio Zones

18 zone house layout for central audio. Zones have 1-4 speakers (dual channel for single speakers) and all wiring is home-run to the main networking closet. The AV stack is situated next to the networking and speaker wire runs.

Current Issues

Currently figuring out how best to control the AV stack with LinuxMCE.

RS-232 interface to MC-66

Will need to write a GSD interface for the MC-66 if not already supported.
